Originally a cartoonist and illustrator, Ben Barnes’ striking visuals and offbeat humor as a writer/director are unmistakable. He’s written and directed projects for Steve Carell’s production company, Carousel Television, including Chimney Creek, a scripted comedy finalist at the 2013 New York Television Festival. He’s been a Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab finalist; entries in his short film series Fish In A Sweater have been official selections of the Jim Henson foundation’s Puppets on Film Festival, the New York Television Festival, Just For Laughs Montreal and Chicago, and multiple years at South by Southwest. A feature version of Fish recently won Best Feature Screenplay at the 2016 LA Comedy Festival.
His most recent directing work, a narrative music video for the band Auditorium, was chosen to premiere at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles this May. Ben also moonlights as an editor for the television show Yo Gabba Gabba and also co-produced and -edited the documentary feature Accidental Courtesy: Daryl Davis, Race & America which won a special jury award at the 2016 South By Southwest film festival.
